Check out our first floor exhibit, which features the city flower of Wheaton (Endless Summer Hydrangea) and the city flowers of our two Sister Cities. Wheaton’s Sister Cities are Karlskoga, Sweden and Wheaton Aston, England. To learn more about Wheaton’s Sister Cities, visit the Sister City Commission. If you can’t make it to the library, you can see photos of the exhibit on our Flickr page! Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at Bev’s (Great Books Coordinator) blog post called Hydrangeas and Other International Stars.

This blog focuses on finding information, but what about sharing information with others? The Web now has loads of free sites (as you probably know) where you can share things with others: photo-sharing (Flickr, Webshots, Photobucket, Snapfish), blogging (WordPress, Blogger, LiveJournal, Windows Live Spaces), social networking (MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, LinkedIn), and much much more!
The idea of all of this might seem a little intimidating, but it’s easier than you think. A great way to start (that hardly requires any computer skills) is Tumblr. Tumblr is a way of sharing/posting photos, links to favorite websites, music, videos, quotes, or anything else! And you can do this with just a couple mouse clicks. There is no coding or Web design experience needed. I created my own Tumblr page the other day and had a lot of fun! All you need to start is an email address.
Check out the Tumblr page (or Tumblelog, as they call it) I made and then get started on your own! Would you like more information about any of this stuff? Leave a comment, by clicking on Comment now (above) and I’ll get back to you!
