What can you do with a Wheaton Public Library card?

- Check out books, audiobooks, CDs, framed art, and more
- Take home a Blu-ray or DVD for your next movie night- Download free ebooks and audiobooks by your favorite authors
- Create a Zinio account to read free magazines on your smartphone, computer, or tablet (see page 5 for details)
- Request a book from another library through interlibrary loan
- Access research databases from home, including Learning Express Library’s Job and Career Accelerator, Reference USA, Value Line, Heritage Quest, and Consumer Reports
- Book a meeting room or study room for your next book discussion, tutoring session, or company meeting
- Attend storytimes for ages 6 months through 6 years
- Receive priority registration for WPL’s free Computer Classes
- Use the Internet computers to check Facebook, email, and anything else you need to do

How do you get a Wheaton Public Library card?
There is no charge for a library card if you live within Wheaton city limits. Adults and Young Adults (grades 6 and up) may register for a library card at the Checkout Desk on the main floor. Please have two forms of identification with you to show proof of your current Wheaton address. Children age 5 through grade 5 may register for their library cards in the Children’s Department. A signature of a parent or guardian is required for anyone under age 18. Please call the Checkout Desk at 630-868-7510 if you have any questions.

Sign up for a library card during September and become eligible to win a Kindle Fire and some other great prizes, including free movie passes to Studio Movie Grill. Children are eligible to win a set of Legos! One entry per person.

Already have a library card? Check out an item during September and you are entered in a separate prize drawing for a Kindle Fire! Show your library card at Studio Movie Grill during the month of September and receive the student ticket rate for yourself and one guest.

Every second Wednesday at 7:30, September-June, Wheaton Great Bookies delve into works of timeless appeal and importance.  Upcoming readings will include essays, a Greek tragedy, a book of the Bible, a fairy tale, poetry and more.

Fasten your seatbelts for a guided musical tour through rock ‘n’ roll history! The Neverly Brothers play all your favorite Rock n’ Roll and Rhythm & Blues hits from the 1950s American pioneers to the 1964 British Invasion groups in an awe inspiring concert that will have you singing, dancing and thoroughly entertained.

Due to the excessive heat, this concert will be held inside the library on the first floor. No tickets are necessary. 

Every newsletter comes with suggestions of recently released titles as well as recommendations of older books grouped by theme or author. For example, the Mystery newsletter has included readalikes for Marcia Muller and the thematic section of Armchair Travel has focused on Italy.

Because every newsletter includes links directly to the library’s catalog, you can be at home in your slippers or taking a lunch break at the office while placing holds on the books you want!

You won’t find Printer’s Row in your copy of the Sunday Trib — unless you forked over the $99 membership fee.  But you can check out Printer’s Row at the library. Look for it on the Periodicals shelves on the second floor, where you will also find the New York Times Book Review, New York Review of Books, and the terrific literary reviews Granta and the Oxford American.
