Have Book-Will Travel, our summer reading program, comes to an end this Saturday, August 10th.  There is still time to turn in your reading logs and collect your prizes.  Remember if you finish 9 hours of reading for children birth-age 4 or 15 hours for children age 5-11, you receive a golden ticket to our Scholastic Book Fair sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Here are the dates and hours for the book fair:

Summer Reading Program

Can you believe it’s already the 2nd week in July?  Summer is flying by!

We hope you have been using the Wheaton Public Library this season.  Here are some events you can look forward to as the summer moves along:

* We still have 5 weeks left in our Summer Reading Program, Have Book-Will Travel.  Pick up your log and earn prizes by reading now through August 10th.

* Tickets are available, and will become available, at the Children’s Desk for a number of free programs including…

Friday afternoon movies

JG’s Reptile Road Show

* Our next Family Storytime will be Monday, August 5th @ 7pm for the entire family

* Join us for Drop-in crafts on Friday, July 12th and August 16th from 10:30am-12:30pm

* There’s still space available in our Draw Your Own Fantasy Ride program.  Register online or through the library.

* Sign-up for a LEGO Race Car Workshop on July 22nd or July 31st

* Sign-up for Duplo Club where young children can develop early literacy skills

* Children, ages 2-5, can register for Nature Telling on August 13th.

The library launches its Have Book-Will Travel Summer Reading Program on Saturday, June 1.  Join us for special events for the whole family throughout the library.  Register for the program that day and be entered to win a variety of prizes including a GPS, a family membership to Brookfield Zoo, DVDs, and much more!

9am-1pm (Reference Desk)

Have Ebook-Will Travel: Try reading a library ebook on an iPad, Kindle, Nook, and more

10-11am (Lower Level)

Circus Boy: Comedy, juggling, and riding the world’s smallest bicycle

10am-2pm (Teenspace)

Snacks of the World: Just for grades 6-12; Taste some of the world’s most fun foods

11am-1pm (Roaming)

Dennis DeBondt, Magician: At 6’7″, he’s the self-proclaimed Sears Tower of Magic

Creation Stations: Kids can make Silly Putty, build with Magic Noodles, and more

Scholastic Book Fair for Golden Ticket Winners

We only have 4 days left in our Summer Reading Club, Reading is So Delicious!  But that means you still have 4 days to turn in your reading logs!

Here’s what’s going on the rest of this week:

Thursday, August 9: First day of the Book Fair.  If you have earned a Golden Ticket this summer for reading 15 hours, bring it in from 9am-8pm to choose any book in the Scholastic Book Fair.

Friday, August 10: Second day of the Book Fair.  Bring in your ticket from 9am-4pm. (Little ones have a chance to do a craft from 10:30am-12:00pm on Friday, too!)

Saturday, August 11: Last day of the Book Fair and the Reading Club.  Bring in your ticket from 9am-4pm.


*Saturday, August 11th is the last day to pick up prizes for the Summer Reading Club.

*The Book Fair is for those who have earned a Golden Ticket. We will not be selling books at the Book Fair.
