Adults Can Read Teen Books Too!
Many of my friends, and fellow librarians, read Stephenie Meyer’s extremely popular YA series, the Twilight Saga. Teenage vampires? Not really my thing, I thought. After much encouragement and one friend’s comment that “they’re better than Harry Potter,” I finally decided to take the time to read the four intriguing YA novels. To be honest, I was not super impressed by the first book, Twilight. However, once I finished the second book, New Moon, I was hooked. I could not put down Eclipse, the next in the series, or Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final book, and read it in two days (it is 756 pages long)! These books will appeal to fans of Romance, Fantasy, Mystery, Horror, and more. Read more about this series at the author’s official website.
In my opinion, some of the best books around are written for the Young Adult/Teen age group. These books not only appeal to kids and teens, but many are great reads for adults as well. If Fantasy/Romance, like Twilight, isn’t really your thing, there are plenty of other great reads in the YA section. Here at the library, YA books are located on the second floor, in teenspace.
